We are leaving early tomorrow morning in the hope we can have a good couple of hours stop in the middle of the day - somewhere foresty or parky maybe, or even a swimming pool, just not too far from the dreaded M6 or DH will get uppity.

And then later on, we are looking for a nice restaurant where they don't mind if children breathe in and out occassionally. Had our fill of snooty places, though do want to eat nice food / drink nice wine! The closer to glasgow the better for the restaurant, including right in glasgow.

really really hope someone out there knows the answers!

thanks

Not sure if this is quite what you're after, but we were going to stop off at barter books which is an old train station, that got turned into a second hand bookshop. They do coffee and biscuits, and there's a really nice children's room. The only reason we didn't in the end was we decided to get the train, but pil went and loved it.

I'll note it down! Thank you. I am trying to make the most of the sunshnie and get them out and running around, but we do this journey quite a lot, and it is often p issing it down, so I am sure we will make use of that at some point! GReat - really quirky little place - thanks!

Weeeelll

we do this journey once/ twice a year and usually stop off at Westmoreland service station on the m6 in Cumbria. It is owned by the community, food reasonably good and has a farm shop and small soft play.

We usually do it over night to reduce the pain!

In Glasgow there are loads of places but a safe bet is Paperinos on byres road which does great pizza/ pasta etc, decent quality kids meals for £5.

westmorland service station is good but this place is also a really good stop about 5 mins off the m6 and you can get a good run around. there is also sizergh castle on the same exit. but this is only good if you get there before 4ish tbh. good luck!
