Its going to lovely on saturday and I want to go to the beach.

I'm in south herts, so its quite a way to any beach. Would like somewhere sany and quietish, where we can make sandcastles and go for fish and chips afterwards.

I think Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex is the best way to go - any recomendations? I like Brancaster beach in north norfolk but is there anywhere closer?

Id go to Hemsby its a lovely beach full of dunes and lots of old fashioned arcades and fish and chip huts.

Hunstanton is a lovely beach too but I have been for a few years since the fire -it was also quite old fashioned.

But for me everytime it has to be Great Yarmouth its gorgeous.

Kessingland also has a beach now as opposed to a stony bay .

Great suggestions - thanks. I'll check those out. Went to hunstanton last year and it was so packed in summer - lovely in winter. Hemsby sounds nice

Frinton?

Yep another vote here for Frinton, its quiet and has a lovely beach, we are thinking of going there on Friday!

Live in north norfolk and my recommendations are;

Holkham for wide open spaces but a bit of a slog from the car park to the beach.

Yarmouth/Lowestoft for sandy beaches easy parking "Kiss me Quick" ambience.

Sea Palling for a mixture of the above, shallow sandy bays, backed by dunes, blue flag, easy parking and handy icecream places.

East Runton - fab rockpooling.

I would normally agree with Lowestoft but it is gradually becoming stoney.
I live in Lowestoft and a month or so ago myself and a friend went to the beach and there were diggers etc moving sand along the beach to cover up the stones.
Sad really :-(

My recommendations would be:
Wells Next-The-Sea.
Yarmouth
Gorleston
