Legoland or Alton Towers???

Want to bring our 3 children (DS's 6 and 5, DD 1)to either places but wondered which was the best for the boys age groups?

Our boys have never been mad about going on rides on their own but love jumping on with either mummy or daddy. Can you do this at either Park?

We will also be looking to stay overnight for 2 nights. Can anyone recommend nice places to stay near either park?

I would have said Legoland, because of their ages. Another option you might like to consider is Drayton Manor, because of Thomasland, if you have train fans for sons!

How tall are they?

Personally I'd say Legoland for that age (and there are bits your DD will happily potter around in too).

At Alton Towers there are 6 rides you need to be 140cm tall to go on, and 8 that you need to be 120cm tall to go on. At Legoland none of the rides require you to be more than 1 metre tall (assuming you are riding accompanied).

Thanks MaryBS and ProfLay. You are very good to advise.

I am leaning towards Legoland to be honest. I have been to Alton Towers many times byt years ago. It is beautiful but maybe theres not enough stuff there for my kids.

Anyon have any recommendations on accommodation?

There's a previous thread on nearby accommodation here if that's of any use.

I presume you'd need a room for 5? We usually stay in a Travelodge if we stay at all (we're about 2 hours drive), but they only hold 4. And to be frank, aren't "nice", although they do the job.

Thanks for your help Professor and MaryBS
