Going to a caravan near Skegness - SCARED !! What is there to do?

Have never had holiday in caravan before and am going to Skegness (well nearer Butlins)with MIL, DP & 2 under 5s.

What is there to do all day apart from Amusment arcades, fairground & beach ?

Any survival tips ??

Someone must have some ideas surely?

Or are you all too middle class (like me)

Oh your going to Ingoldmells r u? erm, well its arcades, fairground and beach.....the fairground bit's not too bad for under 5's as I remember from a fleeting day trip the other year.....you could pop down the coast to the seal sanctuary...erm, not too sure otherwise..

Gibralter Point is near Skegness isn't it? There are dunes and rabbits there, from what I can remember..

we stayed in sutton on sea when we went over that way and there's a lovely windmill at Alford which is open to look around, with tea shoppe etc. Louth is a nice town to visit - some lovely quaint shops. Found a lovely one called Dragonfly. The actual beach at Sutton on Sea is nice (but loads of jellyfish) there's an old wooden coal barge wreckage on the beach which ds decided was a dinosaur skeleton. Lovely part of the world if you can get away from the commercialism

DP was offered a convalescent holiday by a heart charity a few years ago on the "east coast". We thought Whitby, lovely and relaxing. No. Skegness, in a caravan actually. We only stayed a few days out of 7, and most of those we drove around to towns in Lincolnshire. Got to say though, the last day we had an absolute howler in the penny arcades. We had to stop because his scar hurt too much from laughing (those machines with the black and white stripes where you have to line up the coins - he hit it every time, and the winnings get "fired" at you from the top of the machine!)

So, that said, if I were you, throw yourself into it - I'd stop at the kiss me quick hats though - I don't imagine you'll have much trouble enjoying it with two littluns if you just throw yourself at the littlun-pursuits. It's just full of the sparkly tat that littluns love

lol. yup - they were the places we drove to Jampits! Just think they are a bit "droll" for the under 5's?

Thanks for that. I'd planned on visiting the seal sanctuary & the windmill - found them on a website. Might even drive off to Lincoln or Boston for the day & leave 4 yr old with dp & MIL.

im off to skeggy butlins next week.... quite excited really.... but then, i dont HAVE to leave the site!

oh you will hve fun, just get into the spirit of it! day ticket for Butlins, for their pools. Crazy golf. Pound shops! Sand castles on the beach! donkey rides! chips! your under fives will love it. maybe you can talk some really good books...

I worked at Skeg Butlins when I was 18, starting to get all nostalgic.
Anderbery Creek (Sp?) is a lovely beach.
Lincoln Cathedral is lovely too.
