We are just back from the South of France and spent a few days at a lovely beach in Juan-les-Pins. Nice and sandy, water lovely and warm and calm and the kids (2 and 3) loved it. I wouldn't stay in Juan-les-Pins as it was a bit tacky but we stayed in Vence just north of Nice and hired a car for the week and it was great.

Croatia. We went a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. I can't remember exactly where we stayed because we drove and I've got a shocker of a memory.

Carnac, Brittany. Old fashioned seaside resort (French style). Plus standing stones of course.

Horofakia, Chania, Crete.
Or else Corsica, which is even nicer, they have some amazing shallow sandy beaches, perfect for toddlers and absolutely stunning.

think crete will be too hot thanks, can you recommend somewhere in corsica? A few people have suggested it but not sure where to go. Thanks!

here is fantastic - I'm always raving about it!! Or try Siblu - I'm going to one of their parks this Aug - down in the Languedoc area of France. And you can use your Tesco vouchers! Otherwise Canvas, Keycamp, Selctcamp etc etc are all very good. Campsites in Europe are fab cos of the amount of freedom the kids get - and sociable in the evenings too when they're in bed - you can sit outside your mobile ome drinking wine and chatting with other people.

DS1 has been to Lake Balaton and ended up in a very tacky resort full of Germans - choose your resort carefully!
