Lonelymum · 11/08/2005 21:38

Maybe not then, although dh and I drag our kids round places like that.

Blossomhill · 11/08/2005 21:39

I am after places very child friendly. You know like zoos, parks that type of thing

RTKangaMummy · 11/08/2005 22:07

there is a play park at ALUM BAY {not been to it for years though}

Make sand model where you fill a glass or shape with different coloured sand @ alum bay

RTKangaMummy · 11/08/2005 22:08

go to RYDE to watch the hovercraft start up and go over the solent {FREE}

justmummy · 12/08/2005 00:11

We loved watching the hovercraft come in and leave at Ryde. Kids (& adults)were fascinated.
Just along the road from the dinosaur isle in Sandown is IOW Zoo - not huge but loads of big cats. We did both in an afternoon.

RTKangaMummy · 12/08/2005 12:33

justmummy we haven't taken DS to watch it BUT we did it as children

perhaps we will go next week

RTKangaMummy · 23/08/2005 16:38

how was your holiday BH?

we had a deffo brill time

RTKangaMummy · 23/08/2005 22:18

Was your crossing on sat in the rain

Freddiecat · 23/08/2005 22:28

Havenstreet Steam Railway definitely. Took DS (3) and DD (1) there with my granny a couple of weeks ago and they loved it. (Slightly scary moment when DS asked me where the pistons were on the train).

Ryde sea front generally as there is a small fun fair, trampolines, ice rink, dotto train along the sea front to Puckpool where there is another park and generally klots of running around. Also the boating lake in Ryde where you can pedal swans around - and an open air pool.

Good pub recommendation is the Fishbourne Inn (near the car ferry) as just down from there is a little green where you can watch the huge ferries in the tiny inlet. Dunno what the food's like now.

RTKangaMummy · 23/08/2005 22:30

we went to fishbourne inn last friday and sitting at the next table was

JULIAN CLARY

Blossomhill · 23/08/2005 22:33

Hi RTKM No our ferry crossing was sunny but delayed. We went from Fishbourne. The delay was a nightmare. Although we were so lucky with the crossing and I would rec. where we stayed to anyone!

We stayed here

How was your week? We were so lucky with the weather weren't we?

We loved Robin Hill. Been before but such a lovely day out!

RTKangaMummy · 23/08/2005 22:43

we went on monday and had great crossing from southampton to cowes

DEFFO BRILL weather

Quite complicated accomdating my mum and dad and where they wanted to go and DS and where he wanted to go

We didn't go to robin hill this time cos DS is going on school holiday next june and they will go there

we went to carisbrooke to the jousting, calbourne water mill, blackgang chine, to watch the hovercraft, out to needles battery, shanklin beach.

Blossomhill · 23/08/2005 22:45

We went to Blackgang Chine. What day did you go? Sounds like you had a great time.

It's just so expensive isn't it. I dread to think how much we spent!
