I am taking my 4 month old to new york.
I will be there for 3 weeks so i think its worth changing her sleep schedule...

is it hard for babies to switch? will she be on london time the whole time? is there anything I can do?

I would change her sleep schedule. At 4 months they are very adaptable and you may find you are out in early evenings and they are asleep in their pram compared to evening time at home when they would be sleeping in their cot.

I did Sydney to UK when DD1 was 4.5 months old. We were 9 hours ahead and were coming over for a 3 week holiday. It took 3 days to convert her to UK time. We just woke her up around 4.30-5pm and did her usual bath then bed routine around 7pm. Then in the night we alternated who got up with her for an hour at a time then swapped unless she needed fed as I was breast-feeding. She tended to be awake for 2 hours max in the night during those first few days. We just kept the lights low, quite play and books whilst she was awake in the night.

DS1 (DC3) is 4.5 months old at the moment and if we were going I would change his sleep pattern to the time where-ever we were staying and swap it back when we got home. At this age their sleeping patterns change quite a bit anyway.

Have a great trip!
