Finding nice beaches (Blue Flag etc)

I have just stumbled across

Blue Flag/Seaside Award beaches

which has loads of information about standards and lists Blue Flag beaches nationally, and Seaside Award ones by region, it's brill.

Sadly - but not unexpectedly - there are no Blue Flag beaches in the NW but at least there are a few Seaside Award ones, and we can always go to N Wales if we're desperate.

well you can't have too many useful links on mumsnet so here is Good Beach Guide as well in case it's useful to anyone.

Thanks, bk - only 2 NW ones in your guide! (As well as all the usual forms of pollution we have the added delight of radioactive waste into the Irish Sea, which never seems to go away (it is so sad because some of the Cumbrian beaches would be wonderful).
