I am planning on booking a holiday to Spain/Greece/Portugal next May half term.

I have never taken the children abroad alone before - gulp - and will probably not be taking another adult.

I want to pay for it monthly at the travel agent as I am on a budget.

I have three children who will then be aged 13,11 and 9 - I have no idea where to start, please can anyone point me in the right direction, would kind of like somewhere where there is evening entertainment as I went to a Holiday Park a few years ago in the UK and found the kids loved it and it meant I could chill out and got chatting to other people.

Hi - I'm a single mum of 2 and have taken my 2 here for the last 2 summers - just a flight to venice and a bus to campsite (Eraclea Mare - 3 min walk to site from bus stop)gets you there and it is fantastic - Selectcamp and Canvas do it if you want to be near other brits to make it easier to mkae friends. I've also taken them to Disnelyan Paris on my own - driving and ferry. We stayed here and drove in every day - might be a bit quiet for your older kids though. We're just back from here - went for half term with Selectcamp in a mobile - fantastic place for the ages of your Dcs. I'd recommend using your Tesco vouchers (if you have them) for Stena Line - it was like a luxury cruise staying in a cabin - VERY nice!! The drive is about 45 mins to Duinrell from Hook of Holland. Or you could fly to Amsterdam with easyjet.
This summer we're going here - flight to Perpignan, train to Argeles and then bus or taxi to campsite. 'camping' (Ie mobile homes - I don't do tents on my own for my main/proper holidays!!!) holidays are fab - I've always met new friends and so have the children - they have loads to do and you're outside most of the time with loads to do. Very sociable. All these sites ahve things on in the evenings although I've found that I don't go to that as I'm too busy sitting outside drinking wine with new friends while the children rampage around us with their new friends!! Hope this helps!!

Booking online is usually cheaper than a travel agent and most operators will let you pay monthly. You can use Tesco vouchers with Siblu but they are more expensive than the likes of Selectcamp who are always amazingly cheap!!! My half term holiday to Duinrell cost £191 - plus the ferry!! Put that on tesco vouchers though. Other people there had booked the Norfolk line ferry to Dunkirk which only cost £20!!
