DH and I are hoping to get away next year for a weekend for our wedding anniversary.

Having not been away just the 2 of us for a long time, I don't really know where to start looking about where to go.

Where would you recommend ?

Ideally looking to spend about £500 on flights/travel and hotel.

I should say £500 max. I've looked at Dublin too as found goos flights but DH has been told it's ridiculously expensive over there and that's putting him off.

Bellagio maybe (on lake como) Terribly romantic and lovely food! You can fly to Bergamo (with ryan air) and hire a car or Milan (with difficulteasyjet) and get the train.

I can recommend a couple of hotels if you're interested.

Rome is fantastically romantic. You can fly there reasonably cheaply, there are plenty of budget airlines who fly to Rome. Train into town centre. Either hotel or apartment if you are not bothered about fancy breakfast (we had coffee and croissant in cafe aroudn the corner). Hire a Vespa and whizz around like Audrey Hepburn.

We stayed here. Nothing fancy, but clean and close to the centre. It is in Trastevere, a lovely area of Rome.
