Character Lunches at Butlins Bognor - are they worth it?

Just got my details through for our upcoming 'break' to Butlins (not sure how much of a break it will be for me but I'm sure my DS1 will love it!)

The character lunches are £15 each, so thats £30 if just me or DH takes him, which is a pretty big spend for lunch.

So I wondered if its worth it. DS1 is big on Bob the Builder and other characters, however if we dont do it, he'll still see them about won't he? or is this the only chance he'll get to 'meet' them?

Advice appreciated!!

oh, and DS1 is 3.3 btw - so he's big enough to enjoy and remember it if he doesnt get frightened, but theres still a slim chance he'll cr*p himself and run away

We did Bobs Tea Party with our 2 in Skegness...... and it was a complete rip off. I was fuming for ages after! Went into a little room, red coats played a few games, Bob and the gang came out for 5 mins to say hello and have photos taken, then party food, and then story time. Bob then came back in to wave bye and hand out the back packs. This cost me £20 each for the 2 girls and I was livid.

I could have fed them, had their photo taken with the characters at another time during the week for free and bought them a bob book and toy for less!

Madness!

Hi

We went to Bognor at Easter. We didn't actually do a character lunch, but we did get to do loads of character meet and greets throughout the 4 days we were there for no extra cost. They do take photos of your child with each character which you can choose to buy, but we found it quite easy to take a photo with our own camera whilst the official photographer took his picture.

I really wouldn't bother paying extra to do the lunches.

Bob the builder also does a short show every morning in the toddler village which includes singing and dancing (and its free !)

Hope that helps !

I've heard they're not that great. I think the character breakfasts are better, and cheaper - and if you stay in the hotel - then free .

Hi Everyone,

I hope you don't mind us joining your conversation but we just wanted to help by listing below full details of our Character Lunches.

CHARACTER LUNCHES

Join Bob the Builder?, Angelina Ballerina?, Billy Bear and Daisy the Cow for a fun-packed lunch which includes:

? Three course buffet lunch
? Fun and games with the characters
? A photo with the characters
? A character gift and a balloon for children to take away

Our new character lunches are a great way for families to get up close and personal with our four biggest characters on Resort and have exclusive time with them over a lovely lunch.

Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina greet your family and the children will have their photographs taken with them.

A buffet lunch is served and the characters and Redcoats mingle with our guests. How about sharing an ice-cream with Billy or Bob!

There?s some fun and games and the children can have a little dance ? Bob might even do a rendition of his favourite ?Big Fish Little Fish? dance if you?re lucky!

As Bob and Angelina say goodbye, Billy Bear and Daisy come in, sit on their giant chairs and children can have a cuddle or two and a photograph taken with them.

After lunch the characters will then bring the each child a gift or balloon to each table.

Families may go and select which photograph they would like to take home with them at the Photocall Shop (price included in the package).

The good thing about the lunches, and why we do them, is the children have exclusive time in a limited group with the characters. Depending on the popularity we hold groups of up to 50 Guests.

The lunches last an hour and there are two characters are there pretty much the whole time with just a quick change over. Bob and Angelina are out at the same time and then Billy and Daisy come out.
We hope families appreciate that it?s all about the experience which we aim to make as fun and exciting as possible.

Its £15 per adult, per child, or there?s a £50 family special offer for 2 adults and 2 children. Children must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).

Please also note Character breakfasts are for Hotel Guests only on our Bognor Regis Resort.

'Fraid you're too late; everyone's already slated them as a pile o' wank.
Nice try at getting free advertising, though.
