Hi there,

thinking of getting married in Mauritius. I would be grateful for any tips or recommendations where to stay, when to go and is it worth it?

Thanks for any tips.

HI there.

My cousin got married there in september 2008. I went over also and it was ace!!

We stayed at the Belle Mare Plage hotel in Belle Mare. It was lovely. The hotel had two golf courses (if you like that kinda thing), several restuarants, water sports and a spa. Think there was also stuff for kids to do (though mine werent there so not sure how much exactly there is!). The hotel sat right on the beach, as well as having three pools.

They also have a wedding planner who is assigned to you when you arrive. My cousin basically just had to pick her flowers, cake and where she wanted the ceremony and left the guy to it. The only downside was that they had to spend the day in Port Louis at the courthouse to get the papers in order for the wedding.

Like I say we went in september, just before the weather started to get too hot. And I think it was quite reasonably priced given that its long haul. We flew with Emirates, but cant remember company that we booked the hotel through.

The hotel does have its own website if you wanna have a wee look
www.bellemareplagehotel.com

Hope you find something you like
and congrats too

There are some lovely family-friendly hotels in Mauritius here: www.totstoo.com/destination_mauritius ... but I don't know if they do weddings. Love the idea of a ceremony barefoot on the beach (sigh)
