I have just realised that if I manage to get PT job to suit DS (state) nursery hrs, what do I do in Summer/Xmas etc hols when I have no one to look after him while I go to work. Honestly we have no one to help us out and no £ to spare worried

Where are you based? I am a nanny and may be able to help over the summer... feel free to email me [email protected] (please excuse the ridiculous e-mail address!)

CM when he was younger, now at school we use holiday clubs and I take some holiday.

School nursery used to do 'wraparound' which was available full time in the holidays (which we paid for). Now use after school club, DH and I stagger our annual leave, occasionally grandpareetns (although don't live locally) and as DD gets older we tend to make reciprocal arrangements with friends so if one of us is off we will look after DD's friend and vice versa. We have to keep it all written down on the calendar as it gets very confusing!

A lot of childminders offer holiday clubs so check out childcarelink. My parents look after ours, as they have just retired. Previously we used holiday schemes at the local schools, one they really loved but closed down after a wonderful summer. It was such a shame. My DD is upset because she is not going to summer school this year, especially as it had a swimming pool. Round here they are around £25 per day and that normally includes lunch.
