Hi all!
we are hoping to go to majorca for last two weeks of august. We'd like a great beach and charming/ characterful small town or village. No gut buster English breakfasts or theme pubs!

I've read about cala ratjada, puerto pollensa, cala santanyi, camp de mar and port de soller.

Can anyone let me know if any of these fit the bill? or is there somewhere else good? Even another island/ country that wont be too hot at this time?

puerto pollensa looks nice but v. big and maybe too resorty.
Any tips about good self catering accomodation would be great too.

Thank you!

Puerto Pollensa is nice but can be a bit resorty but not in a down market way, there is a nice square there away from the main walkway bit-The beach is good there but in the evening try Pollensa old town.

Lovely place nice and small , cafe/restaurants with great atmosphere around in the main square has a bit of a south of france feel to it and there is a nice Market on a Sunday morning.

Formentor beach is nice , quite popular with locals and not a lilo shop in site! A lovely drive to there too.

Soller is very picturesque too. Deia is very pretty too.

There are a load of really pretty ,high end market places in Mallorca that are a real contrast from the full on bucket and spade package holidays bits of mallorca.
Stay away from Magaluf and Palma Nova and you will be fine!

Thank you magenta stardust!
That is really useful so I will look for self catering accomodation there I think,
...any recommendations?

And re your last paragraph- are there any other beach areas you would recommend- we def want the 'pretty high end market places in Mallorca'!

Thanks for your help.
