Just wondering if anyone can recommend areally nice seaside, where there is proper sand and lots for small children to do???

Don't really mind where it is in the UK, but would prefer to keep it to the south of England.

Broadstairs, Kent

Lovely golden sand, rocks for crabbing, small arcade, Beech Pavillion for small shows. In July & August they have a special Dickens Week, where residents walk round in VIctorian clobber & Folk week with lots of Morris dancers etc ending in a carnival. Events calendar here! Lovely food - we usually eat at a place called something like Aqua 32. (I know the building but the name as changed - it was a small hotel) It is near the bottom carpark, opposite the Angel/New Age shop.

My family have been visiting there for three generations!

West Wittering also nice but I LOVE Broadstairs!

Bournemouth!!! I live here and we spend almost every weekend at the seaside. There is a long stretch of beach from Southborne right up to Sandbanks. We tend to avoid the main bit of beach by Bournemouth pier as it tends to get too busy but further down its often lovely and tranquil. Alum Chine is perfect with a small paddling pool and a play park. I spent yesterday there with my two who are aged 1yr and 3yrs, they loved it!!!

West Wittering and Sandbanks (Poole) are lovely, or, if you like SW England, try Woolacombe - a huge sandy beach for LOs and good waves for bodyboarding or surfing. DD has been bodyboarding since she was 4 and loves it
