Where will still be hot in September?

I am planning on having a nice relaxing week somewhere in mid September and wondered where will still be nice and hot at that time of year? I've been to Cyprus and the Canaries before so would like somewhere a bit different - any suggestions? has anybody got any experience of Croatia?

Egypt - Look at the Sofite hotel in Taba Heights on the Red Sea. We loved it there.

GreatOrmondSt · 18/05/2010 10:24

Thanks LilRedWG, I definitely will. I've never been to Egypt before but have heard good things. Are there lots of things to do in the event that I try to drag myself off the sun lounger?

Well it's a good six or seven hour coach journey to see any of the usual sites but there were trips to Jeruselem, Petra in Jordan. There were quad-biking trips and visits to the site of the burning bush. That being said, DD was only 18 months and we just lounged.

The hotel was recommended to me by someone on MN (Beetroot I think).

Here's the website.

Can I come with you please?

LilRedWG · 18/05/2010 10:32

sights NOT sites

GreatOrmondSt · 18/05/2010 10:46

ha...I didn't even notice That hotel looks lovely, thanks so much and yes of course you may come with!! I have actually been to Jerusalem before, but it was such a long time ago I can't really remember it.

Where are you going on your hols this year?

sadly they'd never let you in, a nightmare to get a visa to here. Quite fancy an Egypt/Jordon trip in the near future, leaving the DC at home with DH of course

Just been trying to plan my trek. when do you release dates for next autumn?

GreatOrmondSt · 18/05/2010 14:08

That would be amazing! Mumsnet holiday in Egypt here we come!

If you go to the Challenge Events section of the website and click on the 'Find out more about' part for each event, it brings up the 2011 dates.

I think the Great Wall of China is in September 2011 and the Inca Trail is November!

Let me know if you need anything from me.

MOS - not quite sure I want to go with the inlaws either. That being said, we've been with them before and had a great time, but I just like it to be the three of us.

mumoverseas · 19/05/2010 05:38

I can understand that LilRed I went on holiday with my ex inlaws once and it was ok but didn't feel right. Hell would freeze over before I went with current in-laws

I've been to Croatia in September. Beautiful islands. It's nice but they have this seasonal wind that comes down off the mountains (can't remember what it's called) but it's freezing. So you might be ok in early september but not so, later on.

Also they aren't really a foodie nation so if you're into fab italian type food, maybe not the best place.

I'll probably get outraged posts from indignant croatians now.

GreatOrmondSt · 19/05/2010 13:13

Thanks for the tips Kathy - I am a major foodie so that's really useful to know. Where abouts did you? I've heard Brac is very nice...

We went to Lopud, an island near Dubrovnik. It was stunning but chilly. The ferry to the mainland only cost £1.30 and the scenery was amazing but we ate an awful lot of squid and frozen pizza.

witchwithallthetrimmings · 20/05/2010 09:29

sicily and sardinia are both still hot in september, sea is lovely and warm as well

ilovemydogandMrObama · 20/05/2010 09:34

Cornwall? Nothing beats it if the weather is good....

Probably going home to Seattle for Thanksgiving, but am hoping to afford go to Hawaii from Seattle. After the half marathon of course for the Wallace and Gromit Appeal...

GreatOrmondSt · 20/05/2010 10:55

Love squid....but not so much frozen pizza.

We were thinking of Sicily as it looks beautiful and we've never been before. We have a habit of going back to the same place again and again if we like it.

Cornwall is great, we're actually going to Dorset in July so will probably venture down. The British seaside is lovely but Hawaii it is not - last summer we spent one morning shopping for raincoats!

Thanks for all the advice

Amy
