Budget hotels in Spain - anyone know of a chain? ala travelodge...

Hi, we're going to France and spain this summer on hols. I know of Hotel formule 1 for France (about £30 a night for 3 bed room). I wondered if anyone knows of a good chain like that for Spain - it's Bilbao and Santander that we will be going to....

Just a small thought - Formule 1 are budget but be warned that you get no en-suite. Shower, toilet etc are in the hall. They also tend to be in industrial zones. As an alternative check out www.hotelbb.com. They are very good value with en-suite. Normally located in commercial districts. Not luxurious but having tried most of the chains in France these are our favourite especially with 3 large-ish children.

Not sure about budget chains in Spain, I guess just try googling budget hotel in Bilbao or Santander.

If you fancy something special in Spain for a night how about trying a Paradore (www.paradores-spain.com/). These are luxury hotels but at less than luxury prices. They used to be state owned to preserve historic buildings.

One thing - whatever you decide on please book in advance. Hotels get booked up quickly in the season and we have seen too many people sadly looking at full signs. We have been there ourselves and ended up spending the night in the car - no fun with 3 children.
