Bali apartment style accommodation

We stayed in Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites last time which was great because was self catering style - 3 bed apartments (we have 2 kids and Granny with us) around communal pool so plenty of scope for making friends. BUT it is full this year. Anyone know of any similar style accommodation in Bali? Doesn't have to be in Sanur.

redhotredhead Can I ask you to give me a more detailed roundup of Sanur? We are looking for similar type accommodation for our holiday in Bali this year and it looks ideal. Can you give me an idea of whether it would be suitable for young children, how near it is to the beach, shops etc? Thanks!

Hi Angel - Sanur great. the hotel I refer to was ideal for us with 6 yo twins. Apartments around 2 pools -one big, one smaller with kids slide etc. Also a games room for kids with pool tables, DVDs etc. There is some supervision at kids pool and you can arrange for hotel staff to look after your kids formally but there wasn't a kids club so to speak. I saw the staff looking after babies and toddlers and doing a very good job. Our boys made lots of friends and i just kept an eye on them from my sun lounger. Hotel resraurant fine for chips and ice cream - didn't rate the food otherwise. Hotel is cheaper than many because is not on the beach. But a daily hotel shuttle bus goes on the hour to the main Sanur street and to the beach itself - free and takes 5 mins. We were apprehensive about it to start off with but were hopping on and off like locals in no time. Some great shopping in Sanur, nice kid friendly restaurants especially Massimo's (Italian with fab ice cream) and Cafe Batu Jimbaran (or something similar) with all sorts on menu, local stuff and great breakfasty type things like pancakes etc. Beach is lovely. Lots of places to sit and the hotel has it's own little bit with loungers and towels you can use nera where bus drops you off. It was lovely! Main thing for us was having large apartment with little kitchen for breakfast and beer cooling, had 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large lounge and balcony. Plenty of space. Am gutted it's full for our dates.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks! They have availability for the dates we are looking at, it would be DH and I, our 2.6-year-old DS1, 9-month-old, my parents and brother. Everywhere else we are looking at, we are looking at about USD$700 a night!

Thanks for the review once again.

You won't regret it - ask our mate Firman who is the reception superviser to book you a large 3 bed apartment with an upstairs balcony - they are bigger than the others. Forgot to say there is satellite TV with plenty of kiddie channels for those early mornings. We also got free wifi thrown in but we did stay for a month last year as DH was working there. Worth a try! If I think of anything else I will let you know!

Oh and don't fly with Thai Airways - rubbish in flight entertainment, tho your babes may be too young to appreciate it! We are going Emirates this year and connecting through Dubai and Jakarta.

Bump - anyone got any ideas re the original question?!

Thanks redhotredhead. We are flying with Singapore Airlines as we are going to Singapore to see family and the Bali trip is free (we just have to pay taxes!). It's a great deal and we fly with SIA all the time for that reason, we've been to Hong Kong and Phuket on our freebies so far! I hope you get an answer to you question.

Have you see this website? I saw it and saved it but having had time to look at it thoroughly yet...

redhotredhead - Have you found anywhere? I just booked a 3-bedroom villa at Nusa Dua Hotel and Spa (the last one for our holiday dates!). GULP! It's not that much more expensive than Sanur (Sanur was US$200-$225 for a 3B and I'm paying US$230 at Nusa Dua), with the added advantage of being in Nusa Dua with its own private beach. It's also got kids' pool and club and playground etc. Check out their website. P.S. I called directly to book (they will offer you the internet price) as the family residence doesn't show up on their search engine for availability).
