Best Florida beach resorts

Just thinking ahead to next year, during a stay in Orlando we thought about having a couple of nights away from villa at the coast.
Had half day visits to Clearwater and quick look at Cocoa beach after Kennedy day out.
Does anyone have recommendations for a beach area but with things to look at too?

I'm a Florida native and I must say, if you don't mind a little drive ( about 2hrs), head north on I95 to St. Augustine. Its fantastic!! Its the oldest city in the nation and just beautiful! The beach there is just as gorgeous! You won't be disapointed ;)

I would go with St Augustine too. We always make sure we visit there when we go to Florida. It's lovely.

sounds nice. We are going to Orlando for 3 weeks in October/November and I fancy a few trips away from the parks. We've done Tampa/St Petes and down to Miami/the Keys so that sounds nice.

St Augustine is beautiful as is Sanibel Island.
