Hotels in KL?

DDs and I are traveling back to the UK from Oz together in Sept, we are probably going to go via KL. Does anyone have any tips for good but not horrendously expensive hotels for an overnight stop?

Ideally something near the airport - I've looked at the Pan Pacific but it's pretty ker-ching.

Bumping in case of Aussies on overnight duty.

It seems to be that the Pan Pacific is the only airport hotel. And is pretty expensive. But may have to go for that one on the way out. Oh well, I'll just have to force myself to get used to a bit of luxury

We stayed at the Tunes hotel, basic but was okay for one night and it is just near the airport. The rooms are tiny but clean, they only sleep two per room. KL is actaully quick far away. Pan Pacific is only other choice but expensive for one night.

DH stays at the Pan Pacific but on business so we hadn't realised how expensive it was when I joined him last year! Nice though. Fantastic buffet breakfasts, but then lots of hotels do that nowadays.

But it's a fair way out from KL itself, if you wanted to do a bit of sightseeing as well...

We stayed at Hotel Nikko - good location, great breakfast buffet, very helpful staff and made arrangements for cot etc for baby. Got a very good deal too on Expedia.

Also stayed one night at the Tunes hotel - basic and small but clean and ridiculously cheap. You do have to pay for all the extras though including towels, air con etc. But its good for a stopover - miles from the centre of KL tho.
