Where do ryanair weigh your hand baggage?

I've booked a flight with ryanair and am beginning to slightly regret not paying up for checking in bags. I thought I could get by with 10kg, but am now having doubts! I normally read a book a day on holiday, so obviously thats a pretty hefty weight for a week away! What I'm wondering is, can I get away with buying books at the airport or do they weigh your bag as you board so anything you buy at the airport counts anyway? Would appreciate anyones wisdom on this one!

Thanks!

I've never seen them weigh hand luggage though I always check in online so maybe they might if you checked in at the airport?

They do pull people out of the boarding queue to check the size of their bags though.... I always take one of those very small wheeled suitcases - I know it is within the size guidelines and the sides are fairly rigid so won't bulge out if I fill it. Can fit enough for a week in that...
