Which area would you reccomend for a short 4 day break with 4 teenage boys?Am looking at appartments but don't know areas.they will be at skate parks in teh day and with us from 6pm so want somewhere we can eat etc that is safe to let them sit around without us watching like a hawk!(we will be but hopefully they won't notice)

I would avoid the old town (Ramblas, Raval, and part of Born.
To leave teenagers alone, eixample is really nice as it is central, full of restaurants, and with more locals than tourists. Eixample is very wide and full of modernist piece of art. I like what is called the old left (Passeig de gracia, Ramble de catalunya, Balmes, Granados) .
If they like to skate, they MUST go to the MACBA museum, where all barcelona's skaters hang around and do amazing things.
Have a great time.

Oh, so you are going after all, noddyholder? I saw the other thread about those idiotic parents, and felt annoyed for you, but everyone else was so eloquent, I left them to it! Good news if you have sorted it all out, with tickets and accommodation!

Around Sagrada Familia is nice - safe and great bus/metro links to city centre and beach. Enjoy. Am very jealous!
