Just had a thought... what about drinking water in Canaries?

I am, as usual, overanalysing details about our impending holiday to Fuerteventura! Is the drinking water safe or should we use bottled water?

What about ice creams and ice cubes?

Ooh and what about the salads - they will be washed in the water wont they?

Fon't know, but will be watching, as we are going to Gran canaria in the summer. I would tend to assume water not safe for drinking, but probably wouldn't worry too much about ice cream?

Yeap it is better to drink bottled water in the canaries,

it is safe to eat salad etc, I'm nearly sure it is due to the mineral content of the water that makes it undrinkable as in tastes crap instead unsafe

As PlumBumMum says the water is safe but doesn't taste too nice because of the high mineral content so best to get bottled water to drink. Salads are ok, as are ice cubes and ice creams.

Polgara2 · 02/05/2010 23:52

Ah right thanks.

I did read that it was the mineral content but also that it could cause stomach upsets which is why I was worried about the ice creams and washed salads!

Do they make ice cubes with bottled water then?

Usually they get ice in bags already made up, the same as they do in pubs here for exapmple, so they are ok.
