Good car hire companies in France

Okay so we need a car for nearly 3 weeks in South of France . I'll be driving, am only 24, only need a little car, have read reviews on various websites and cheap companies seem universally crap.

Any ideas anyone? Companies to watch out for? Can deal with French/local companies as no language worries.

auto-europ has always been the cheapest route for us and we rent about 5 times a year.
Renting locally only really works if you can get them to meet you at the airport. the national sites of the main rental agencies are not cheaper than going via auto-europe.

Yep Auto Europe has been the cheapest for us too, we always use them.

HyperU are cheap. Dunno if they are crap, we only rented a van for a removal...

Now, can you return the favour for me, for cheap rental in your neck of the woods?

frakkinnuts · 03/05/2010 14:22

Ha freaking ha is all I have to say to any sentence which contains both cheap and this neck of the woods.

I'll ask DH though! I have dates for when I'm going to be around here over the summer (and not in your neck of the woods) if you fancy a meetup.

Yes, "cheap" to be read in context, obv.
We probably will have the loan of friends' car(s) at various points, but things are a bit hazy still, so I'm checking the options.

E-mail me your dates!
