New York At Christmas

Hiya,

We are thinking of going to New York next year for my 30th - the issue is it is also two weeks before Christmas.

Does anyone know if flights/hotels are still resonably priced, or is it worth going in the New Year?

Thanks

The month before xmas is the most expensive time to go - flights/hotels. Everyone wants to go then to see Rockafeller centre/christmas displays and do their shopping.

It would be nice to go before xmas, but yes - very expensive and very very very cold.

We went in October (honeymoon), and it was lovely - we were able to walk around in t-shirts and jeans, sit outside for coffee/beer etc, and actually enjoy wandering, whereas 7 years ago we went in November, and felt like we were constantly rushing from one place to the next to try and get out of the cold and rain.

Also - although I would love to go for xmas, you cant be sure of getting snow - it might just rain. And that would be rubbish.

IMO, New Year better value, April or September much better weather, more enjoyable.

We went with the dc at Christmas just past from the 19th to 23rd.
V.expensive but, it was amazing & the holiday of a lifetime. The department stores window displays were something else & it was magical skating at the Rockefeller centre with the kids under Christmas tree.
Another highlight was building a snowman in Central Park & then hiring a horse & carriage for a ride through the snow.
Very, very cold though! You will need thermals!

Went in April with dh, four years ago. Absoloutly gorgeous weather, really pleasant.
Hoping to go back next year
around the same time,- just the two of us again:-)
Sis in law went for christmas year before last. Had a fab time, but was freezing cold. It was far too cold for my nephews!
