Is it worth taking the ferry from Weymouth to St Malo, France

I am going away to Weymouth with dd (2.8) next month, due to circumstances dh is unable to come so it will be just be us two.

Been looking for things to do and wondered if day trip to France on the ferry was worth the money and effort.

I wondered what St Malo was like? What there is to do there for the day?

Has anyone been? Done the ferry trip?

Would appreciate opinions!

st malo is nice. there's a port area with lots of sailing boats, and the old town. some nice beaches. i haven't eaten there, but i think there were lots of restaurants. we have regularly done the ferry trip from portsmouth to st malo - its OK for a 2 week holiday, but no way would i do it for the day - but i don't sleep that well with noise.

I like St Malo, DH and I have holidayed there before. Haven't caught the ferry from Weymouth though so not sure if it's worth it for a day trip.
