Anyone booked a package deal and then arranged their own accommodation in order to get bargain flight price?

We have a ridiculous situation where it is cheaper to book an entire package to Skiathos than to buy flight only.

Our intention would be to book the entire package with Thomson but then book and pay for the accommodation we really want direct with the owner. We would then use the flights but make our own way to our accommodation once on the island.

Does anyone know if this is "technically allowed"?

It just seems stupid to pay an extra 300 for flights just because we want to book our own accommodation.

I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

I would at least go to the Thompson accommodation first before going to your own.
