villa with 2 and 4 year old - good idea?

We are going to Italy in June. Dh wants to stay in a villa or apartment. I think we should go for a mobile home on a camp site with a pool and playground. I am thinking mostly of 4 year old DD as I think we will just end up having to constantly entertain her in a villa as there may not be other children about. I can see the attraction of a villa though (especially if no DCs!). WWYD?

I would always choose a villa personally.

We went when ds1 was nearly 4 and ds2 6 months and it was bliss. DS1 just played in the pool pretty much all day.

We're doing villa again in 5 weeks with ds1 (now5), ds2(2) and dd (10months).

But I also like the privacy aspect and that the dc's can splash etc in the pool without annoying anyone - which makes for a more relaxing holiday for me.

But does depend on your dc's I guess - ds1 pretty good at amusing himself.

We have a 4 year old only so can see your dilemma. Can you find any villas that are situated in a leisure complex, James villas has a selection although I don't know if there are any in Italy, that way you get the comfort of a villa but the amenities of a complex.

Having said that some of the caravans we have stayed in in the UK have been superb and I believe that at Eurocamp for example they are of a high standard.

In fact have just googled James villas. There is a complex in Tuscany with villas that may well suit you Riva Degli Etrushi, sorry am awful at web links.

That was quick! I will go check out James villas. My 4 year old is very much a 'I don't have anyone to play with sulk, sulk' type of girl.

Oh I know the feeling, I am always on the lookout for holidays where we get a bit of space, but there is a shared swimming pool or children's play area.

We did a villa holiday when our two were that age and it was lovely. The girls don't really need entertaining though, they just entertain themselves and loved going in the swimming pool and walking into the town and the beach. I guess it depends on how much entertainment your children actually need.

That's just what we're doing, Cyprus in 5 weeks in a private villa with dd4 and ds2.
The resort (Protaras) has loads for us and kids to do, I'm hoping dd will be happy with her little brother, me and dh and my Granny to entertain her!
