nice beach near bristol - are there any

are there any nice beaches (i.e not weston super mare, brean etc) within an easy drive of bristol? would love to go to beach for day

Saunton, Croyde or Woolacombe in North Devon.

As far as I know there are non nearer. I used to live in Devon, I moved to Cheltenham and one day wanted to go to the beach. DP took me to Brean, Weston, I said 'these aint beaches' and made him drive mme to Saunton.

afraid we are stuck with rubbish beaches here, can't bear them after growing up near saunton/woolacombe etc...
there might be some over in wales but not sure, and prob not since they are affected by muddy old bsl channel too...

but you cld do north devon in a day....
its an hour to junction 27, prob about 45 mins/1hr after that to saunton etc??

There are 'interesting' beaches - Kilve and that area with fossils and rock formations and the like. But not 'nice' as in sand and ice-cream. If you want that you are best off going to East Devon IMO - Sidmouth and Seaton arent' too far from Bristol.

Sand Bay, just up from Weston beach proper is surprisingly nice. Brean and Burnham (as distinct to Brean mobile home hell) are also pretty nice.

I think the nicest beach accessible (just) from Bristol is Budleigh Salterton

Google says it's 1hr 45 minutes from Bristol.

Minehead has a sandy beach, that's quite nice. The sand was placed there about 12 years ago.

Or you can drive across to Gower in Wales, that's beautiful.

Clevedon and Portishead are both very close to Bristol and lovely areas of coast but not a sandy beach.
