Borough Market with kids?

My in-laws are visiting and I'm taking them to Tate Modern on Friday and thought of stopping by Borough Market for lunch. However, I have 3 boys (aged 11, 4 and 1 1/2). As I haven't been to Borough Market in ages I don't know if it's chaotic and unmanageable with kids. I was wondering if any of you could offer any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

chaotic but not unmanagable. saw a real buffalo last time we were there - nice icecream.

There's a Fish! place there which is good for kids here. Market itself is a bit dull for the younger ones - juts one big crowd.

Fridays not so bad as Saturday mornings...yum, Choriza sandwiches from Brindisa...drool...

I would go to the market as early as possible - when we lived nearby I used to ensure my toddler and I were finished shopping by about 10.30, as it starts to get really heaving at about 11.

So I would recommend doing the market first, then stopping for brunch/early lunch, then onto the Tate. Fridays are loads better than Saturdays though.

Thanks ladies for all the tips!

We went early, around 11ish, when it began getting crowded. Ate at the Fish place (thanks squeaver... really good!) and then hit the cornish ice cream place for dessert. One of my DSs went for the brownie offered by these hippie looking fellas. Have to say it was probably one of the best brownies I've had.

Just wanted to say the outing was very manageable and fun!
