My friend and I are planning to go on hols in september with thomson - we've been the last two years but always to cheaper resorts and this year are splashing out a bit and the hotel offers a kids club/nursery. Our daughters will be nearly three by the time we go. They both go to nursery at home I am a little bit nervous about leaving my daughter does anyone have any experience of using these kinds of clubs and if they are safe etc?? Prob being super over protective and a couple of hours of relaxation each day would be great ........!!? x

We went to croatia a couple of years ago and stayed at a camp site (adjoining a pretty smart hotel) that had a kidz club. DD is older than yours, but she had a whale of a time. Safety wasn't ever an issue (think camp Colditz). I would have no hesitation in doing it again, but funds prohibit us from doing so.

Was never concerned with safety. Go on gut instinct, when you get there. Do the girls/carers seem pleassant and savvy ? Do they look like they know what they are doing ? Before you enrol them, sit by the pool, ask the other people who have already beent there for a week, what they think of the kids club. You will get a good idea.
Ds always went to nursery 2 days a week. when we went on holiday, he is just one of those children who adores kids clubs and would go all day given half a chance. He loved it for the 2 hrs or so that he was there. they did face painting, pyjama parteis. he was in his element. do your girls normally like this kind of thing. try them. if they don't liek it they don't have to go again, do they ?
kids clubs = lifesavers. dh laid int he sun or went back to bed for a siests. fabarooney. don't understand why people are so damning of them.

I am not a helicopter parent by any stretch of the imagination, it was just the infra structure in Croatia was a bit frayed.

We only book if there are kids clubs . Seriously, our two are 10 and 4 and for the past three years we have used them. If we felt unsure at any time we wouldn't allow them to go but I cannot praise the idea enough. Generally it's only for about four hours a day or so and maybe two or three evenings on top. the children love the activities, and we love the 'us time'. Thomson, first choice etc all have their own clubs with their own kids reps, so in a way make you feel more reassured than than hotel run ones, having said that, when ds was younger (pre dd) we used a couple of hotel run ones and they were equally as fabulous!
