Can you still get a one year British Passport?

Applied for 2 children's Irish passports but worried they won't arrive before we leave (in 6 weeks time) because of the strike action down there (and the fact that no one is taking phone calls!). Have already paid for them so don't want to have to fork out another £100 on two five year passports. Does anyone know if they still do the one year ones?

I think the one year passports were the British Visitors Passports - but they no longer exist. Now they are all 10 year passports (5 years for children).

Thanks Lilymaid - thought that might be the case but was given false hope by someone in mothers and toddlers yesterday!
