long or short transit time?

Hello again,

From the advice on my previous thread about travelling to New Zealand I have pretty much decided to go via Singapore.

Given that we will be travelling with two small children do you think it would be better to have a longer or shorter transit time?

OH thinks we should have about 12 hours in Singapore in a transit hotel, to have a rest and a wash etc.

I initally thought that we should get it over with and have a two or four hour transit time.

What do you think or what is your experience?

Thanks again

12 hours may be a long time in one area unless you are thinking about getting your head down for a few hours. Ask the airline whether they provide free hotel accommodation if the transit is more than 8 hours. Some Airlines like Emirates do. There is a nice lounge area where you can pay about s$10-15 per person, per hour and they have beds where you can sleep, danish pastries and coffee on tap and a gym. Think it's called the Rainforest lounge.
You could do the free Singapore tour. It's a couple of hours tour of the city by bus. Don't think the kids would really like that though.

Otherwise 4 hours is enough to stretch your legs, have a meal and a possible dip in the pool then start your journey again.

yes i always try to stay a minimum of 9 hours in transit, usually its 12. i fly during the day and we all have sleep during the 'night' of our transit then back on for the next day.

terminal 2 transit hotel has bathtubs i think which was great. no room service but its not far for one of you to go to food etc if their are two adults.

if we are not asleep for ages their is the pool for a dip or its very easy to leave singapore airport and grab a taxi for a quick look in the local villages.

i found singapore airport had loads for my todler to do.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately the only combinations of flights are either 12 hours break in the airport from 7.45 am to the flight at 19.20.

The other choice is land at 14.20 and leave at 19.20.

I think we are going for the five hour wait.

Thanks again
