Looking for somewhere like the Almyra

We are looking for somewhere to go in September with dd (will be 2.4mo)

We liked the Almyra and want somewhere similar but can't find anywhere that isn't hours flying away. Any sugestions?

Relaxing hotel, pretty location, family friendly but not kid club tastic, max 5hr flight away. Too much to ask?

TIA.

Doesn't the Almyra itself fit that spec ?

monkeysmama · 19/04/2010 21:51

Indeed. But the prices have got silly!

Considering Amirandes in Crete.

ahhhh...now I understand. TBH although the hotel itself was lovely, the food was prohibitively expensive and we were less than impressed with the area.

Sorry - I don't have any brilliant suggestions. A friend recommended some uber-stylish gites with child-friendliness and play area - in France - I can probably find the name of that if it might fit the bill?

monkeysmama · 19/04/2010 22:18

That'd be great! Thank you.

We really liked the hotel but weren't impressed with area though dd was just 1 so we were happy to stick to the hotel. Tbh I think what we liked most was being somewhere stylish & relaxed that welcomed kids. We spend a lot of the summer in Italy with family so want some September family luxury.

www.mazaganbeachresort.com/ in Morocco?

CHOOGIRL · 19/04/2010 22:28

Hi MM

I've been here with DD and it is lovely.

stealthsquiggle · 19/04/2010 22:41

here you go The postcard they sent was still in the kitchen - it is self-catering but apparently they will provide meals if you want.

monkeysmama · 19/04/2010 22:46

Thanks sqiggle much appreciated.

Hey Choo

Will look at all links tomorrow - thanks very much.

Try onthebeach website which is accommodation only I saved over £1000! Booked the flights scheduled which are better anyway with children.

I went Anthelia in Tenerife stunning hotel but whatever you choose dont forget the EURO the spending money is horrific my mum has just come from Cyprus and couldnt get over how dear it was.

I know but you mean by standards I wouldnt go cheap anymore I want luxury and the food has to be excellent or we stay at home. Once again with luxury hotels its B&B only and dinner is usually £35pp so watch out.

Tenerife was great but eating out wasnt very good at all, so much rubbish and some parts are run down now as the investment from the 18-30 crowd has gone.

It was our first holiday as a family and cant see us going this year as far too expensive - you can say £5000!!!!

Have you been to Forte Village?

monkeysmama · 21/04/2010 21:43

I've had a look at the Forte Village but have heard it's got really run down in the past year? That was mainly from Tripadvisor but have heard good things from friends.

Anthelia rings a bell. I think that may be where some friends went last summer and paid nearly ten euros for a coke . Looks beautiful.

Have any of you been to the Amirandes in Crete?

Thanks btw for all the replies. Much appreciated.

We last went 18 months ago - was fine then. The problem I think lies with the different levels of accomodation - the bungalows looked pretty shabby from what I saw.

What about a villa from www.coastline.co.uk? They can arrange nannies et al.

monkeysmama · 21/04/2010 22:14

Thanks for the link - will have a look. We're really looking for a hotel holiday though. I am spending most of August in a villa and dp is definite we need to stay in a hotel.

Nannies / kids club not important to us really.

Thanks for comments about Forte Village - I might have another look. Would you go back?

Yes, I would go back. We were lucky the last time and got an upgrade to a fabulous suite!

I have been to the Anassa - have you thought about that?

monkeysmama · 21/04/2010 22:22

Nope. Where is it?

monkeysmama · 21/04/2010 22:30
