Somewhere to cycle with kids in the New Forest?

I am going to take DC(8&5) and their bikes into the New Forest on Monday and wondered if anyone could recommend somewhere to go? I don't have a bike yet, but intend to get one at some point so recommendations for an easy/ short family route would be very welcome too. Thanks.

I can't seem to find my 'cycling in the new forest' book, that's a bit annoying...

If you go to the tourist information in lyndhurst, they will sell you maps/guides etc.

Or if you are hiring a bike, they will give you the trails there. If you are hiring, would recommend the ones by the station in brockenhurst, they are very nice (or were 4 years ago!) and Brockenhurst is better to start from than Lyndhurst IMO, as you can get straight off into the forest without getting tangled up in Lyndhurst's scary one-way system.

just remember that cycling on the gravel takes longer and even on mtb isn' the easiest of surfaces for your little ones to cycle over - don't go to far and enjoy rather than try to go to far and have miserable dc
