Best hotels in Majorca?

Planning a very rare 3 nights away from our 3 dcs in September with dh for joint 40th birthdays. Can anyone recommend a good hotel around Palma? We are looking for luxury and pampering and would like to be able to get out and about to restaurants/shops without having to travel too far in a taxi. Thanks for any ideas.

Depends what you like - there is a lush boutique hotel down the back cobbled streets of Palma Its called casa de galesa. Type the name and majorca in google and you will see it (I think the hotel website is in spanish but you can book through other sites - Thomson city breaks used to do it but not sure if they still do).
Grupohotel Valparaiso de Palma is also nice - big hotel but you would need to get taxis to and from Palma centre. Its got a big pool and spa if you like that kind of thing. Another big hotel closer to Palma centre is Gran Melia Victoria is REALLY nice. Its a 5star and has views of the marina. i have been to all three. I would rate casa Galesa the best then Melia Victoria and then Valparaiso...But it is down to personal taste! Hope ths helps..

Not in Palma but North of the island in Pollenca - Son Brull - tis gorgeous!

So, not Palma but in the north of the island, in the Port of Soller, there is a fab hotel we love called Hotel Esplendido. It's very stylish yet relaxed and friendly.

Amazing views of the port. Seafront rooms have giant balconies with loungers. Some nice open air restaurants within walking distance, or you can take a quick, small train into Soller for lots more restaurants, shops, a weekend market, etc. There is hiking, etc, in the area but all we did was drink wine from our large balcony!

We went before having kids but took note that they are very kid-friendly. We took a taxi from Palma, but took the train back to Palma at the end of the trip (really cool old wooden train that takes you through orange trees, etc)

Here is the the link

Forgot to add they have a spa, a pool, nice cocktail bar, so I think it would work well for an adults-only break. We only stayed about three nights as well, and it seemed a good amount of time. We were there in October and it was fairly quiet since past prime tourist season...not sure how it would be in September.

If you want Palma itself, the same people who run the Esplendido in Port de Soller also own one about half an hour's walk (maybe?) along the seafront from the centre of Palma, in an area with its own marina, a couple of nice restaurants and beachwww.portixol.com/.

Didn't stay in either, but had a drink or meal and a good snoop at both and they look lovely, and the food was pretty good. The Portixol also has its own pool.
