Me, dh and ds (aged 6) went to palma nova in Majorca in October and loved the place. we have just returned from santa ponsa in majorca and found it to be just ok. Can anyone recommend another resort in majora just as nice as palma nova, looking for somewhere pretty flat, good beach, clean and not a large tourist place like magaluf.

want to go back in a few months (love the place so much)and would appreciate anyone's help.

thanks

Soller is lovely, we stayed at the esplendido.

Mistymoo · 12/04/2010 19:26

We went to Alcudia and thought it was lovely. That was 14 years ago though!

Puerto Pollensa.. fab. Fairly small, v pretty, lovely beaches, great restaurants.

Loved it!

We liked Puerto Pollensa too. We went in august and it is quite busy but is very family friendly and does have a good selection of restaurants. I am a bit mystified by your description of Palma Nova though. I remember it as very busy, extremely touristy and almost blended into one with Magaluf.

Another vote for Puerto Pollensa - even though it's becoming a bit of a MN cliche (I went after seeing it recommended on here!) it really is brilliant and we're going again this year!

We went to Puerto Pollensa in October last year and definitely recommed it. Lovely place. Can walk for miles and very flat - DD (then 7y) took her scooter and scooted on the path beside the beach every day.

I would definitely recommend that side of the island.

Yep Pollensa/Puerto Pollensa both lovely, as is Puerto Alcudia which is close by. Definitely go thatb part of the island, it is very lovely.

herbietea, i thought the resort was a bit unclean, there was a lot of dog mess about on the paths and the people were not as friendly as palma nova. the place seemed to be more after your money than wanting to know you although ds did get a lot of free lollies and there wasnt many nice restaurants, more like cafes and most were a little run down.

missanneelk, we went at the end of the season so maybe its different high season. its sort of leads into magaluf but the junction tends to separate it enough to be a little more quieter. We walked to magaluf and once we actually got into the centre of magalu it was totally different, i didnt like it at all.

have to say though if anyone is going i would definitely recommend the pirate show, we have been twice! do book it youself rather than through tour operator as for us three we saved about £60. the transport was included.

thank you for your recommendations everyone. will look at puerto pollensa. thanks again

agree that cala d'or is very nice, but beaches are small.

ThatVikRinA22 · 12/04/2010 20:38

been to cala d'or, or just outside. we stayed at cala santanyi and drove in every night. found the best pizza restaurant in a little port town, (the name of which completely alludes me now) no tourists at all but fantastic!

also puerto pollensa is beautiful. we stayed in Inca last time we went and drove into puerto pollensa (when we found it!) we tend to hire villas off the beaten track and hire a car much cheaper!

i also love majorca. would like to go back.

We visited Santa Ponsa and really didn't like it. Was no where near as nice as the other places we visited at the other side of the island IMO.
