pack a bit of everyone in each case then if one gets lost you are ok

AuntyQuated · 26/07/2005 18:25

we are going to The Loire so weather not looking too good there just now.

dd is 9

Loads

No i try and take a weeks worth of clothes to wear in evenings planning on wearing them twice.

If going somewhere hot, i just take bikinis and sarongs for round the pool. And probably about 5 day outfits - dresses/shorts and t-shirts.

And i used to take lots of shoes for all eventualites, but now i just take one pair of trainer type shoes for adventures and one pair of smart flip flop types and live in those as my feet are too hot to wear anything else!

23 pairs of shorts???????

is that a misprint?

I don't own that many

AuntyQuated · 26/07/2005 18:28

oh dear...yes it was supposed to say 3

Way too much! I haven't yet mastered the art of travelling light.

Fran1 · 26/07/2005 18:34

phew thats more appropriate!!

Yes for the children i'd probably do the same.

Take some travel wash in case they get any stains in them you need washed out. They won't be wearing them very much anyway!

hiddenmum · 26/07/2005 18:48

i was advised once to lay out everything you want to take with you and then just pack half (obviously making sure you have an even selection of tops/trouser/shorts etc)

AuntyQuated · 26/07/2005 19:08

how do people manage on a plane??

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 26/07/2005 19:23

How many clothes do they get though in a week at home?

Put all of them out and then co ordinate them so you can mix and match

Put some back away again.

Are you near shops if you need something you haven't taken?

Agree with washing stuff, we use tube of travel wash

We always take too many on planes as well, and take an extra bag inside so don't have to worry about packing too brill on way home

AuntyQuated · 26/07/2005 19:48

on top of the clothes there are books, games, bedding, towels, lotions and potions, documents etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

and no roof box

Are you in hotel or camping?

If it doesn't matter what you look like on arrival

When we pack up to go to sussex etc we use plastic bags or bin bags cos they change shape and so can pack the car very well.

You can pack all the little spaces

rather than just suitcases which leave lots of gaps IYSWIM

AuntyQuated · 26/07/2005 21:01

caravanning...we use soft bags rather than suitcases.
it's not really fitting it all in it's just the fact that we take too much.
dh has 9 pairs of shorts---crazy.
it might rain for a fortnight
