Thinking of renting a Villa in Cyprus in October -never been before but never really met anyone who has anything bad to say about it!
Which area would you say was nicer -Paphos/Coral Bay Area or Protarus/parnera area ?

Thanks

Can't comment on Protarus / Parera area as never beeen, but would not rent in Paphos. Have been to paphos a few times and it is getting more and more commericalised and touristy - on last visit, I felt it had been slighty over-killed by developments, etc.. and wouldn't return.
Coral Bay however is fab. Much quiter, lovely beaches, prob need a car though.

Thanks, yes I should have said wouldn't be Paphos itself more in and around that area-such as Peyia or Coral Bay/sea Caves area.

Think we are swaying for that coast instead of Protaras area now.

oh come on Paphos is goergous...old town, fort, tomb of the kings, great restuarants, Coral Bay - beaches are stunning. Parnera is the middle of nowhere - nearest town Ayia Nappa - very chavtastic there!

Pissori is lovely. Its inbetween Limassol and Paphos. Paphos a bit touristy for me but then am Cypriot. If you go further up Polis / Latchi is lovely.

Paphos is okay - but "its not like it used to be!" Latchi is lovely, had forgot about that

Depending on where you want to go in Cyprus, it's a small place & takes 2 hours to drive from 1 end to the other. holidayrentals.com has a good choice of villas to rent. I stayed in Limassol which was the perfect location as we went all over Cyprus & Limassol was perfectly located in the middle of the island for exploring.

Paphos is absolutely horrid, timeshare touts everywhere. Building work, little tacky boxes on the mountainsides and hillsides, flogging golf course tickets everywhere. Beaches crap, unless you go to Coral Bay or a hotels man made beach.

Yes, Latchi is very nice too.

Pernera and Protaras are definately more friendly with superior beaches, yes, more commercial and much newer resorts but just as much history up that end of the Island too.
We've hired a villa for 2 weeks from end of May in Pernera, there's a board walk from there too Protaras which will be great for Gran and kids and us to walk off evening meal......cant wait to return !!

We have stayed at Kathikas twice and are staying there again this year. The restaurants there are excellent and good food is an important part of our holiday! I wouldn't stay in Paphos personally unless I was heading out straight after breakfast and not coming back until bedtime.
