It's good, we were there about four years ago. There was only one bus to get there and back, which was quite expensive. From memory about $22 each.

The gap store had quite good prices, and DP saved a lot on trainers at the NIKE outlet.

Make sure you go early and make it back to the terminal in time. We nearly got stranded and had to run back to catch the last bus!

Also, take a jacket, we didn't and were brrrr cold!

Hi

I just looked it up - looks great if you want to do some serious shopping - I'm only there for long weekend (hubby out there on business) so not going to have time to fit it in - also he wouldnt be that keen. Hopefully will have time for a bit of shopping but will have to stay in main downtown area for that.

Any tips of where to go as I've not been before. Realise not going to fit that much in - so far have booked table at the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station...

Have fun!

THanks for the tips - have a great time when you go!

Yes yes, Woodbury Common is fab - even just for the experience.

I found Century 21 a bit frenetic but maybe wasn't in the zone that day. There are all the usual suspects (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic etc) along W34th Street near the Empire State Building on the way to Macys. Otherwise, I also like the streets around Broadway between W3rd and Spring.

Can also recommend:

The View Bar at the Marriott Marquis, corner of W45th Street and Broadway. Revolving bar near Times Square.

The Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Great views from the 60th floor overlooking the Empire State Building.

Penelopes near the Empire State Building.

Serendipity 3 at 225 East 60th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues ? order the Frozen Hot Chocolate.

Pastis.

I went to Woodbury Common last summer; fantastic. I bought loads of kids clothes, new luggage, and things for me.

We hired a car in manhattan and drove up ourselves, quite a nice drive through upstate NY.

CatJosephine · 10/04/2010 16:20

I love Woodbury Common -best shopping outlet place I have ever been to.

Loujalou · 12/04/2010 13:26

Love it there. Got some bargains from Ralph Lauren and other places. I would love to go back. We got a coach there and it took an hour.

Do you have space for me in your suitcase?

roses2 · 17/04/2010 21:14

I went 2 weeks ago. Save your money and go to Century 21 and Nordstrom Rack in Manhattan instead. It;s only worth while you you are heavily into $200+ designer gear. You can get Armani stilleto's reduced from $400 to $200, those are the types of discounts there. The GAP outlet is no better than the Gap sale in Manhattan.

Century 21 by World Trade Center has the best choice for every day shoes around $50. You won't get those prices at Woodbury Common.

Also we hired a car for £29 from Alamo for 1 day to get there as it was cheaper than the bus for all of us. Petrol there is half the price than here and toll roads are $10 for the journey.

I didn't rate century 21, the closest thing I can compare it to is TK Max, random stuff everywhere. Cosmetics good there tho. Woodbury is to die for and I have to disagree that there are lots of lower end bargains too, tommy hilfiger especially. My friend and I loved it and we not designer junkies! X
