Booked a villa for June. Plan to keep baby in shade except for in the pool (sun hats and wet suit will be worn).

MIL said it will be too hot and not a good idea....

what do ppl think?

June is lovely in the Balearics (doing it fo the 3rd time this year) - not too hot as to be unbearable. Esp if your villa bedrooms have aircon. We did Cyprus in September (similar temperatures) with a 4 month old then a 3 month old (different years) quite happily. Make sure you have a good sunshade for the pushchair - I found that just layering towels over it tends to cook the poor tot inside! Have a lovely holiday!

We took our dd to Mallorca when she was coming up for 6 months old in May one year-it was great -made sure she was kept in the shade (we had a huge lovely tree in the grounds of our villa and she used to lay on a blanket under that ) and if we went to the beach we took one of those little UV sun tent things with us .
As long as you are sensible with making sure they are kept cool and out of the sun and sunhats on you will have a great time.

it'll be fine! Ours both went to the Caribbean when under 1, DD at 4 months. Just keep baby out of the sun, and offer lots of fluid.

SIL did Mallorca in June with her 4 month old last year, I'm taking my (will be) 8 month old in June this year for 2 weeks. It's a great balance of no rain and not too hot, just lovely sunny days.

Just be sun-safe as you would in the UK over the summer:- plus with the advantage of aircon its probably more comfortable than the UK when it gets warm!

PS, Tip if your little one does get hot and bothered: my nephew loved to sit and splash in the kitchen sink! It works really well if it's a shuttered room as its nice and cool!

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for your tips and good wishes. Only just got chance to get back online... my little man is soo time consuming

Glad you have all had good experiences.... makes me feel like I can enjoy looking forward to it especially as it's a term time holiday!! (I'm a teacher)

Yes I will need to be very sun safe. Hope baby likes it - we're taking him to aqua tots to get him used to the water and he is really beginning to like it.

Love the kitchen sink idea!!! brilliant!
