Does anyone know these places in the Algarve?

We have a villa booked for Saturday in Sao Rafael near Albufeira. Looks nice and we go on Saturday.

EXCEPT, we've had an e-mail saying there's a problem with the villa and we have to choose somewhere else! Yikes!

They're all quite similar but in three different towns:

Gale
Castelo
Carvoeiro.

Are any of these to be avoided?

We are two adults and two pre-schoolers so we just want beaches and ice creams really. Are any of these places a complete no no? Not keen on party animal resorts.

I've been googling but it's so hard to tell!

thanks y'all.

I thoroughly recommend Carvoeiro. It's a lovely place and very pretty.

Gale has a huuuge beach.

I know nothing about Castelo.

My choice would be Carvoeiro It's much quieter than Albufeira although the beaches are a bit smaller I think that they are better for children.

I've stayed in Villa's on Vale de Milho Golf Course and dh was desperate to buy a villa up on Vale de Lapa. If you go, I expect photo's.

We always went there when dc's were small [happy memories]

Aww, thanks Alouiseg.

Carvoeiro looks quite hilly. Is it a PITA with a pram?

It is Very hilly, you definitely need a car but buggy pushing is fine. The steps onto one of the beaches are problematical with a buggy but its Portugal, they love families and there was always someone to help us.

Thanks for that.
