I am looking for a Summer holiday trip with 2 boys 5 and 7. I found the Espirit family aventures but wondering if anyone's been and what you thought. Or any better recommendations for a mountains/lake holiday.

yes we went last yr with 6&3yo girls, for 2 wks to Kaprun in Austria. They're not doing this location this yr but we would try them again somewhere else.

Kids Clubs were great, the catering is fab, the other families were lovely. The only drawback is mountain weather - it rains every 3-4 days inbetween being hot (not a bad thing) and because you're somewhere with so many outdoor activities it feels wrong to sit about in the sun just reading a book, you end up walking around the mountains etc!

I know another family with 4 kids who did two weeks, alternating two different locations. They liked it so much they're doing Esprit again this yr.

As I said we would too but our last 3 holidays have been to the mountains and I wanted a beachy holiday again this yr.

Apart from Kinderhotels there aren't any other UK operators apart from Esprit that do the Kids Clubs etc. But check them out too they look nice as well.

Thanks. I looked at Kinderhotels but am less convinced by the childcare ratios and reports of their kids clubs. Think I will try one of the French resorts and get the train to Grenoble.

That was what put me off also - adult/child ratios - and also a possible language issue. Really, we couldn't fault Esprit's childcare or any of the staff, they were all lovely and very well trained and competant.

I don't think you can go wrong by holidaying with Esprit in the Summer if a mountain/lake type holiday in the Alps is what you're looking for.

And the Alps are stunning in the Summer - its such a nice change from beach. Your boys will love it, they will be kept very active! Have fun!

PS I don't work for Esprit!
