Which is the best Greek island to head to if you have a young family?

The DCs are 6, 5 & 4. I don't necessarily want loads of children's activities / clubs but neither do I want crowds of lads on tour.

And will it still be warm in the October half term?

For October half term you will want to head south for the best chance of warmth. Crete perhaps - though you need to be careful to avoid the concrete towers and seek out the still-traditional and sleepy bits.

If you want a smaller island feel, Paros and Naxos are good family friendly options, not much in the way of lads on tour activity. Not as far south but a very dry climate (Cyclades).

We have been to quite a few of the greek islands. We love Stoupa on the mainland - it has 3 seperate beaches all within walking distance.

I've been looking at Stoupa, it looks beautiful. Can you give me any advice about how you book, which company you have used, where you fly to etc?

Of the 3 islands we've been (Lefkas, Zykynthos and Crete) to we've loved Crete the best - stayed nr Chania in the west. BUT i would check if its still warm enough by Oct half-term, i suspect not really - and that things havent shut down for winter.
