Would it suit science-keen 8 yo DS - and is it worth going on a rainy day or should we wait for better weather?

Yes - good for a rainy day. Some nice stuff outside but most of it is inside.

Blu - 8 years old is the perfect age for a visit to Herstmonceaux science centre - we used to take dd there quite a bit, she even had her 7th or 8th birthday party there

It was in the winter but part of the party package was "scientist" who performed experiments involving lots of bangs and flashes in a marquee

She has also been there in an October half-term evening to see the stars through one of the big telescopes (dh said it was freezing then)

Oh, thank you - it sounds perfect!
In the end we didn't go at the w/e...but will definitely out it on the list for a visit SOON.
And maybe a Birthday do.
hmmmm. Good idea!
