Hello. I was planning looking at Nerja in October but having talked to people who have experienced varied weather in Spain Oct half-term have now gone off that idea. I am now thinking of squeezing a weeks holiday at the end of August - just before return to school and Corfu is appealing. However last time I went to Corfu was when I was in my late 20s - definitely over 10 years ago !!

Would appreciate advice on good family resort - preferably a resort that still feels Greek. I certainly dont want a roast dinner in an English Pub. Trying to do this on a budget (under £1500) just for one week. Ideally would like to pay maximum £1300. Apartment with pool, hopefully near beach and village but we like walking so are happy if a bit of a trek to things. I spent a few hours last night looking at places which seemed good but then made the mistake of going on tripadvisor and holidaywatchdog (which is full of very severe critics) and am now completely confused about resorts.

Sorry for long ramble. To summarise - In need of recommendations from people who have actually been to good resorts in Corfu and enjoyed themselves. Thank you so much. K

I used to love going the north east corfu, a place called san stefanos (near Kassiopi). It's a beautiful coastline, you can hire a motorboat and go fishing/ swimming. It's not really a resort, but very greek and everywhere in Greece is family friendly. Kassiopi was very busy I remember, but a lot of families go there (there is a beach with calm waters). Be warned though that Corfu is very rainy!! I went twice in high summer and it rained both times.

I also recommend Stoupa in the peloponese (mainlaind greece). Was getting busy when I last went there (quite a few years ago) but lovely place and popular with greek families.

Thanks. Will look at San Stefanos. Really want something that feels Greek. A friend mentioned Stoupa a while ago so might compare prices for those places. Thanks for advice. Any more corfu experts all advice welcome!! K
