We are going to Mallorca for a week in May and intend to hire a car. I'm not sure if we should hire a car seat or take our own. I'm concerened as tio whether they will give us the correct and fitting instructions etc. can anyone advise me on what to expect ?

we took our own - your airline should allow for it in your check in baggage allowance, but worth chcecking. Took away all the uncertainty

i used the seats provided with the hire car last year. would take my own next time. they looked very old and quite knackered. if i had thought about it i would have taken my own as you dont know if the seats you get have been in an accident or anything.

i hired one in france and it was rubbish. no help fitting it either. take your own if you can.

Thanks everyone. DS get 20kg luggage allowance so we'll take the seat instead of a bag for him.

Its a bit it and miss tbh. I fly to Palma every year and usually hire a car, some have been brand new and already fitted, others have been really old.

With one company I actually refused to take the seats they offered me, they were covered in sticky stuff and badly torn.

There is a toysrus nearby the airport if you wanted to buy a cheapy when you get there.

Even if they look good, you have know way of knowing the history, we always take our own.
