Driving to Dordogne - somewhere to stay for a night half way

Hi,

We will be driving to Northern Dordogne area in August. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to stay for one night to break the journey? Le Mans area seems to be about half way. There are four of us - me, Dh, Dd 6 and Ds 4. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks

We broke the journey in Chartres last year. It's a lovely town - really nice to stroll around and lots of lovely cafes.

And a fantastic cathedral of course, if you can persuade your 4yo!

Just remembered, there is a little train tour that you can take around town - very touristy, but the kids loved it, and we felt we got a bit of culture in!

We are staying here for a stopover both ways this year with our ds who are 6 and 4... www.lalunelake.co.uk.

The family room has a double and twin beds. There is a small pool which they can burn off their energy in. The owners provide dinner and wine as well, the menu is lovely.. just what we will need after the long drive.

Not stayed here before but it does seem really nice.
