Has anyone gone to Australia for 'just' 2wks? Will it be too exhausting for the kids?

That's it really. Just about to book but DH only able to take 2wks off. Will the kids just be recovering from the flight over by the time we fly back?
We're not planning on travelling around BTW. Staying in one place if it makes any difference.
I'm starting to worry that it's a lot of expense and hassle for the kids to be cranky for a fortnight. They're 5&3 BTW.
Opinions please.

We did 2.5 weeks and two cities when dd was two and a bit.

Takes them about 3 nights to settle in when you get there and three nights to get over it when you get back. Worth it, I'd say.

One tip I'd give you is to get a flight that leaves the UK in the middle of the day and arrives in Aus at bedtime, then you can put them straight to bed and start the next day (relatively) fresh.

I'd like to know too please!

My DH came out for just 2 weeks when I was living in Oz. It was knackering. I would love to go back now, but 24 hours in a plane and the jet lag would put me off. we don't have any special reasons to go - I just loved Australia.

By the way the DCs are 5 adn 3 and are good travellers.

Thanks ladies.
Sounds like it's doable but is it long enough to be relaxing? Hmmm

I went with just DH, but we did Dubai, Oz and NZ in 2.5weeks. It was knackering. We're planning again at year end with 2 DCs and will be going for a month, but again we have to go to Oz and NZ.

I think it's doable for one place in Oz for 2 weeks, but do be prepared for crankiness all round for the first few days.

I think you should do it. because the total contrast in weather, outlook and lifestyle is way more refreshing than two weeks on a beach in Tenerife.

I went to Perth for just a week last Christmas.

I was travelling alone so didn't feel too jetlagged, but when we had gone with the children the year before it took them a couple of days to acclimatise. We went for 3 weeks that time which was perfect.

I would say 2 weeks is not unreasonable but allow a couple of lazy days when you get there and when you get home again to adjust.

Thanks everyone. I think we'll just go for it.
