Camper van holiday with 1year old in USA

Hi girls
I would love to get some advice about a holiday in USA.
I'm planning to travel with my 1year old and partner to California for 13days. I would like to get some advice about the best way to do that. We're thinking about hiring a camper van for the trip and was wondering if anyone has done it already and have any suggestions and tips
Thanks a million!

We were thinking of doing the same thing with our 2y.o.DS this summer, but were told that many (most?) US camper vans are not set up to take child seats, so we decided to drive and stay in hotels.

We did the camper van thing in Florida summer 2008. We drove from Orlando down to the Florida Keys then up to Naples/Tampa and back to the lovely air conditioned villa in Orlando.
The campervan we hired (through El Monte RV.com) was the smallest they did but big enough (just) for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 2 year old. We didn't have any problems with fitting her car seat in and there were several different seats it would have fitted in.

We booked some of our sites through Kamp America which were often cheaper if you booked in advance although the price really depended on the location. Well worth looking at their website.

Hope that helps
